Where to Play Pickleball in Point Pleasant

Point Pleasant Borough Recreation Center

Address: 1001 River Avenue, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742

The borough program uses two indoor courts and three outdoor courts, with lights and restrooms available. Monday and Thursday sessions run from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and focus on beginner through intermediate players up to about 3.0. Seasonal access is $15, and instruction is built into the program. Local coordinator Jason Ackerman can be reached at 732-773-5672.

Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Park

Address: 1001 River Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742

The outdoor area has four free courts with permanent lines, lights, restrooms, and drinking water. Players need portable nets. The site attracts a large local player base and is the better no-fee option for evening play.

Beaver Dam Creek County Park

Address: 3430 Bridge Avenue, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742

The county park has one free outdoor hard court striped over a tennis court. The tennis net remains in place, so it plays slightly higher than a regulation pickleball net. This quiet court is best for a prearranged game, with the park's trails, fields, parking, and restrooms close by.

Pickleball Lessons in Point Pleasant

The Borough Recreation program combines games with instruction on specific skills and strategies for beginner and intermediate players. Its two indoor courts support technique work in all weather, and equipment is available for players who do not yet own a paddle. Nearby instructors include Bob Goldbetter, Kevin Dunne, Charles Famulare, and Colin Parsons; lesson profiles begin in the Coaches section.

Leagues and Open Play

Point Pleasant Borough's organized recreation play runs Monday and Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Point Pleasant Beach operates weekday league blocks at Pleasure Park, 702 St. Louis Avenue, with 2026 sessions scheduled Monday through Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. from mid-August into late September. These registered blocks give solo players a much better route into games than arriving at the single Beaver Dam court.

What Visiting Players Should Know

The municipality listed here is Point Pleasant Borough, not Point Pleasant Beach, although the two border each other and share the River Avenue recreation area. Borough program players pay $15 for the season and get two indoor courts plus structured evening play. For a free game, bring a portable net to the four lighted outdoor courts. Beaver Dam Creek is also free, but its shared tennis net is higher than regulation and there is only one court.
